295 years ago Pascoal Moreira Cabral signed the minutes of the Cuiaba Foundation. Every year since then, this date celebrates Cuiabá anniversary.

21/04 - Tiradentes (Holiday)









It celebrates the day of the Minas Gerais Conspiracy, which was a rebellion to free Brazil from the Portuguese monarchy. Joaquim José da Silva Xavier (Tiradentes) and its allies fought to the death.

In Brazil and in countries around the world it is a national holiday dedicated to parties, events, demonstrations, exhibitions and events.

07/09 - Independence of Brazil (Holiday)
It is an important date, because in September 7th, 1822, D. Pedro I declared Brazil's independence on the banks of the Ipiranga creek in São Paulo. Thereafter Brazil ceased to be a colony of Portugal.

23/09 – Beginning of Spring

12/10 - Our Lady of Aparecida Day (Holiday)
On 12 October, three dates are celebrated in Brazil, but few remember all of them: Our Lady Aparecida, the official patroness of Brazil, Children's Day and the Discovery of America. Our national holiday, however, is due only to the first date. Although the devotion to the Saint dates back to the eighteenth century gone, it was only enacted in 1980.

15/10 - Teachers' Day

02/11 - All Souls Day (Holiday)
Since the first century, Christians pray for the deceased. They used to visit the graves of the martyrs in the catacombs to pray for those who died without martyrdom. Since the fifth century, the Church dedicates one day of the year to pray for all the dead, for which no one prayed and of which no one remembered.

20/11 - Day of Black Consciousness (Holiday in Cuiabá)

Black Consciousness is a day dedicated to Zumbi dos Palmares, a great icon of Brazilian history. Zumbi was murdered for fighting for the black slaves' freedom in Brazil. The 20th of November was chosen by black activists gathered in the Unified Black Movement Against Racial Discrimination Conference in 1971. ZUMBI ALIVE!
